The Meaning Behind Barely Saved

When I was first coming out of addiction, my sister was still pretty deep in hers β€” and dating a guy who was causing problems. My stepdad made a comment about getting some of my "barely saved" friends together to go "talk" to him.

For some reason, that term "barely saved" just stuck with me.

At first, I thought it described someone who believed in God but was still a little rough around the edges. But over time, I realized it meant so much more.

I was overwhelmed with gratitude when it hit me β€” I was barely saved. Barely saved from a past life that nearly separated me forever from my Creator.

Today, I know we are all barely saved. Because we all fall short of the glory of God. It's only the sacrifice at the cross that makes a way. No one is too far gone, and no one is righteous enough to earn it. But the gift of eternal life is offered freely to everyone through Christ.

It’s my mission to share the stories of those who, like me, have experienced the miracle of being barely saved.
